Milestones
- 1971:Werner Jenning discovers a niche in the airport services market and establishes CGS Cargo Ground Service AG, based at Zurich Airport.
- 1988:Perry W. Jenning takes over from his father as Managing Director, and puts a stronger focus on physical cargo handling.
- 1993:CGS expands its operations to providing passenger services at Zurich Airport, including a new porter service.
- 1996:The CGS service range is extended to document-checking with the acquisition of Interplan Aviation SA. The company is renamed CGS Customer Ground Service Genève SA, and its operations are further expanded.
- 1999:CGS Customer Ground Service Basel AG is founded
- 2003:CGS Cargo Ground Service AG is sold.
- 2004:CGS Zurich further expands its activities to offer special assistance services for persons with reduced mobility (PRMs) and unaccompanied minors.
- 2008:CGS extends its special assistance services to EuroAirport Basel.
- 2009:CGS teams up with Swissport to establish Careport AG, a joint venture providing the full range of special assistance services at Zurich Airport.
- 2010: CGS takes over airport duty management and ticketing services for British Airways at Zurich, Geneva and Basel.
- 2011:CGS adopts a new organisational structure. Perry W. Jenning hands over operational management of CGS Switzerland to Thomas Brodbeck. Andreas Berchtold is appointed to Executive Management as Director of Operations.
